Looking for pizza in Panemunė, Kaunas? Ipanema, at A. Smetonos al. 4 on the bank of the Nemunas River, has a new answer to the question of what to order. The restaurant has introduced its autumn pizza, “Oh My Sausage!”, with sausage meat, caramelised onions and cheese. Alongside familiar choices, there is something new to ask about this season.

What is new at Ipanema?
The restaurant’s introduction to “Oh My Sausage!” highlights three ingredients: sausage meat, caramelised onions and plenty of cheese. It gives you a straightforward starting point. If a meat-and-onion combination sounds right for dinner, ask the team about this latest addition.
Ipanema has also separately announced a change to its pizza dough. Its updates therefore begin before the toppings are added. If you have eaten here before, it is a reason to revisit a familiar dish. How it compares with the previous version is for diners to judge.
Before ordering, check whether the new pizza is available that day, its price and the ingredients. This is particularly useful if the type of sausage meat or level of spice matters to you: the name alone does not provide those details.
Do you choose pizza for the dough or the toppings?
It is a good question to ask your group before opening the menu. One person may care most about the base, another about the cheese, while someone else wants an unexpected topping. Ipanema’s pineapple and salmon pizzas, pictured in the Tablein archive, show some of the different directions the restaurant has explored.
If everyone usually orders a familiar favourite, consider agreeing on one new combination to share. You do not need to decide in advance which pizza is best. Choose something you will enjoy discussing around the table.
